QUANTITY SURVEYING CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT

The success of this project work will largely depend on the students’ motivation throughout the assignment as the project is student lead, assignment based and is to be undertaken after the student has studied or considers himself competent at Measurement. The student is to be familiar with pricing data generally contained within a variety of textbooks or computer software packages, which are generally available within most civil engineering contractors or consultant’s technical libraries.

The project will be based upon a proposed civil engineering project with the engineers drawing giving the fundamental outline of the clients requirements and the student is required to undertake the following.

Part A
Prepare bills of quantities for the two reinforced concrete reservoirs based upon the Civil Engineers drawing together with query sheets and incorporating a specification and contract details from previous projects.

Part B
Price the Bills of Quantities on behalf of a Civil Engineering contractor by reference to pricing books or using computer software packages generally found within the estimating sections of civil engineering companies or consultants including the preparation of the draft construction program.
