single subject short courses

Postage (Outside UK): Europe £20; Rest of World £30 per single subject short course

To assist students in their choice of course we have indicated the level of difficulty of each diploma. * indicates our most basic level and *** our most difficult level.

The three levels indicated above are the three differing levels of difficulty which PSB consider students should appreciate prior to selecting a single subject short course. On completion the student will be awarded a Premier School of Building ‘Diploma’ (single subject) in the appropriate subject area. Each of the above single subject short courses will take about three months to complete based on the student studying 6/8 hours per week but this may vary depending on the students previous knowledge of the subject. PSB combined diplomas are based on the above single subject short courses.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATES IN HIGHER EDUCATION (30 CREDITS ECTS)

At Premier School of Building (PSB) our primary market has always been towards the more mature student looking for competence based courses to improve skills in the workplace were accreditation has not been of prime importance. Now however PSB can offer the best of both, the same competence based quality courses with the option of an accredited version through co-delivery with the University of Chester.

The benefits of studying on an accredited course are:

  • Academic recognition (ECTS credits)
  • University of Chester quality assurance
  • Portability by importing ECTS credits into another qualification
  • Access to University of Chester portal to library resources
  • Membership of the National Union of Students (NUS)
  • Access to government loans to cover the cost of tuition (depending upon circumstances)

Each Professional Certificate is comprised of three modules or learning units. They are fully accredited by the University of Chester and are therefore recognised internationally both as qualifications in their own right and can be integrated into other university programmes as Accredited Prior Learning.

combined diplomas

Combined Diplomas are designed for mature students currently employed within the construction industry who are supported by their employers both for funding and guidance (i.e. will provide a mentor in the workplace to oversee the studies).

On satisfactory completion the student will be awarded a Premier School of Building combined diploma as appropriate.
